MIZU Far Infrared Bacteria Home Media

Ultra-High Porosity & Rapid Absorption: The high-heat sintering process creates millions of microscopic, interconnected pores. MIZU media absorbs water instantly like a sponge, providing a massive, oxygen-rich surface area for rapid colonization of both nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria.

The MIZU Engineering Advantage

  • 1300°C High-Temperature Sintering

Unlike budget media that slowly dissolves or turns to mush in the water column, MIZU logs are fired in industrial kilns at extreme temperatures. This creates a rock-hard, highly durable ceramic that easily withstands the heavy water flow of commercial Bakki showers and trickle towers.

  • Far Infrared (FIR) Technology

The specific mineral composition of our baked clay emits far-infrared rays. This naturally helps break down water molecule clusters, increasing dissolved oxygen levels and promoting a distinctly healthier environment for high-end koi.

How to Get the Most Out of Your MIZU Media

1.Preparation & Rinsing: Never use tap water.

Before adding MIZU to your filter, lightly rinse the ceramic pieces to remove any fine dust settled during transit. Crucial: Only use water drawn directly from your pond. The chlorine and chloramine in tap water will sterilize the media and delay the colonization of beneficial bacteria.

2.Size to Fit Your System: Use whole or break to size.

For large Bakki showers: Stack the rods whole or broken in to 2 or 3 pieces to allow maximum flow and extreme gas exchange.

For trickle trays, sumps, and bio-chambers: Snap the media into smaller pieces. Breaking the rods allows you to pack the media much more densely. This prevents water from "channeling" (bypassing the media) and actually increases the total biological surface area per cubic inch.

(Note: Any pieces that snap during transit are completely normal and ready to use).

3.Placement & Stacking: Eliminate dead zones.

Arrange the media in your filter trays so that water cascades evenly over as much surface area as possible. If you are mixing whole rods and broken pieces, use the broken pieces to fill in the gaps between the larger rods to ensure no water escapes un-filtered.

4.Ongoing Maintenance: Self-cleaning by design.

When used in high-flow environments, MIZU Bacteria Home is virtually maintenance-free. The heavy water flow naturally sloughs off dead bacterial mass, keeping the microscopic pores open and active. If you ever need to clean it due to mechanical waste buildup, simply dunk it in a bucket of pond water.
